Player Profile and Membership Cards

Player Profiles

All players must create their own individual player profile. You can and should do this in advance.

  1. Use this link to https://barracks.icombat.com/Tactical/Account/Register to create your profile.
  2. Please know your USER NAME and PASSWORD upon arrival.
  3. You will link your player profile to your membership card. The first one is FREE. There is a small fee for a replacement card, so please remember to bring your membership card every time you play.  IF YOU ARE A RETURNING PLAYER - PLEASE BRING YOUR MEMBERSHIP CARD OR SOME CASH.

TIPS FOR YOUR PLAYER NAME:

* it's your battle name, it's what shows up on the screen on the field.  Think about that before you name yourself something you wouldn't want to call yourself to your grandmother.

* Nicknames are good.  Have a gamer tag?  That's usually a good choice.  Also, we like clever and we have seen a lot of really entertaining things.  Make it something you can remember.

* The system does not allow profanity.  We reserve the right to change your name.  If you call yourself something offensive, we'll change it to something we think is funny.

* Names can only be used once and there are players all over the world.  If your name is "taken" ask us how to help you.  There are tricks we know that can help you get the name you want.

Gear Q&A

MI-Combat is a sweaty, fun, endeavor.  It's a great workout!  We get asked lots of questions about the gear - vest, headband and gun, so here is our most common questions and answers:

1. How do you clean the gear?

Answer:  There are a lot of electronics in the gear.  It's hearty but it still takes special care.  We spray the gear after each use with ProKure (https://www.prokuresolutions.com/).  It kills all the "stuff" we don't want getting around.  Then we put the gear in the ventilator / drying rack after each use.  The vests and headbands are deep cleaned after we close.  The laser tag guns are cleaned with wipes specific to the components and don't promote corrosion.  Certain cleaning agents are "oxidizing" and can't be used.

2. Why does the gear sometimes feel damp?

Answer:  Sometimes it does.  The cleaner is a liquid.  We put them in the drying cabinet between use but it can't be a heated dryer, so it's cool air.  We REQUIRE the use of a sweat guard underneath the headband (trust us on this, you will be happy about this requirement).  Bring your own from home or we have a full selection of headbands from the most basic (but does the job) to the nicest (looking at you JUNK brands https://www.junkbrands.com/).  We have branded merchandise and clothing for purchase in store if you forget anything.  We recommend dressing in breathable clothing.

3. Can I buy my own gear?

Answer:  Not really.  It's pretty expensive stuff and takes some maintenance.  You have to be certified to work on the gear as well.

4. Gear Issues.

Answer.  It happens.  Electronics and software are really cool stuff.  But glitches, software updates, internet connectivity, and other factors can come into play.  We are pretty adept at getting you up and running again.  Sometimes, it's user error.  Like the player put the safety switch on.  Or you forgot to reload.  Or you were "dead" and didn't respawn.  Be patient, find a field judge and they'll get you all patched up.  Stay calm and laser on.

What's the deal with the membership card

The first time sign in process where you are creating your player profile is the worst part (and, really, that's relative because it's all fun - it's a GAME after all) of the process.  The first time you play with us we give you one.  For Free!!  We then load your player profile to your membership card.  We use your membership card to put you in the game.  Your player profile allows you to build on your performance each time you play.  That's the video game aspect.  You have proof that you are a better player.  Plus you can level up, earn badges and see how you measure up to players all around the world.  Therefore, you need your card to enter a session.  It' tells the computer that you are present and ready to play.  It helps us assign teams because the software will split up the good, the new and the seasoned players.  The more you play, the better you get.

So one more time for the people in the back:  Your card matters, keep it, and bring it back next time you play.  You swipe and go versus stand and type.

What happens if you forget it or lose it?  Well, you're done.  No more laser tag for you.  Just kidding.  We can look you up but we need your email or player name to do it.  If you had your card, you wouldn't need to remember this stuff because the card remembers it for you.  And we have to charge you for the replacement card because they are now expensive (thanks Covid supply chain issues) and because you're making us do extra unnecessary work.

Pixel Floor

What is it? Pixel Floor is a really fun interactive floor game with unique game modes.  There are currently 7 game modes with increasingly different levels.  There skill based games and competitive games.  It's a relatively new experience and we are promised new games, game modes and features on the regular.  Games are timed and you must complete the objective to win the game level.

Number of players: You can play solo.  Or you can play with friends.  Our floor is comfortable for 4 adults or 6 kids.  Adults and kids can mix and match.

How to play:  You can reserve time on the floor or you can walk in and play based on time or credits.  We also do pixel parties!  HINT:  If you arrive 30 minutes in advance and create your profile, you have some time to jump on the pixel floor while you wait for your session to start.  It's a great warm up to the laser tag.

Competitive much?  We are eagerly awaiting the roll out of "iplaypixel.com" which will allow each player to see their stats on a leaderboard.  Memberships and competitions are also on the horizon.  It's a pretty solid workout.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE GAME

What makes iCOMBAT so unique?

This is the most realistic and advanced tactical laser tag equipment coupled with the key innovative technologies that make this the best laser tag experience the world has ever seen. The weapons systems are modeled after real-world components. Their size, form, and function are just like the real thing allowing for slings, sights, stocks, and other add-ons to attach seamlessly.  When you pull the trigger there is a live bang, recoil, and bright muzzle flash. Out of ammo? Drop the mag and slam it home.  The arena is fully-themed offering a deep experiences that is designed with realism and immersion in mind.  Then include  the only software on the market today that enables real-time player tracking and live internet rankings.  Live time player profiles and statistics tracking automatically every time you play.  Players to wirelessly connect for total game control over health, ammo, time, teams, respawn, and so much more.

How does this work?

Sessions run on the 90 minutes.  This includes the time necessary to get signed up as a player, for briefing on the equipment, getting geared up / down, instruction on the field and debriefing after the session.  All-in-all there is about an hour of play time that is broken up into missions that last about 5 minutes a game.  Each mission has a different objective.  Some based on individual skill and accuracy and others a team strategy on accomplishing a goal.

What should I bring?

A great attitude and the willingness to have fun while being challenged!  It's a great workout too - so get ready to sweat.  Dress comfortably in athletic gear with closed toed shoes that are non-slip.  Pants can be helpful when kneeling but that's up to you.  Lastly, bring a non-spill water bottle with you as there are water bottle holders in the bases.

Do I have to have a group to come and play?

Heck NO!! Sure, you can come in with a group and that's fun; however, you can also come by yourself in any general session and you'll be assigned to a team.

But what if I DO have a group. Can I play with my friends?

You can.  In general, what we have found is that forming groups of 4 works.  That said, the software that makes this game so much darn fun also wants to look at all the players as a whole based on their accumulated or new skill levels and put them in the teams that are MOST likely to result in all players having a great time.  This means that each team should have the same number of skilled players and new players (the elusive "delta factor").  Now, some new players are just naturally great at this and level up faster and there is not always a way to know this immediately but we try and ask the right questions to vet this out and if you'll trust us and let us do the team divisions, we're going to be able to show you a great time!

Wait. This is laser tag. What do you mean I need to be a least 13 years old ?

It's not so much of an age limit as it is a safety, size and maturity consideration.  The laser tag equipment is based on realistic weaponry and weigh about 7 lbs.  They are metal and are over 2 feet in length and require reloading; on the fly.  So what we're really talking about is the ability to handle the equipment for an hour under intensive conditions.  By "maturity" we're referring to the ability to follow instructions about the missions on screens and to be able to participate with the group.  If you've got a really tall 11 year old who plays a ton of Fortnite, chances are, they will be just fine.  But to be sure, just stop by and we'll help you make an assessment.  Keep in mind that for those players not yet ready for the irSMG's we have other options that we can go over with you.

Can we mix the Barracudas and the irSMGs?

We can.  But we won't UNLESS it's a private party.  The short answer is because the software treats the Barracudas differently than the irSMGs and gives the Barracuda's an unfair advantage.  It's like being immortal in a field of humans.  While this is SUPER DUPER fun for the Barracuda user, it far less so for those who came in to play a tactical laser tag against similar opponents.  If you want to have a party that mixes kids and adults, we're more than happy to arrange that with you - just give us a call and we'll help you get that set up!!
